Notice of Water and Sewer Rate Increase

The Board of Directors of Thunderbird Utility District approved water and sewer rate increase to be effective July 1, 2025. The district has not increased water and sewer rates since 2018.

The new rate change will be effective on water and sewer bills received after July 31st. The water and sewer rates will increase approximately 12%. The new rates are expected to increase the monthly water and sewer bill for the average single-family home by $4.00 to $9.00 a month.

The increase is due to the inflationary cost of operations, supplies, and materials.

The rate increase does not reflect the TCEQ Fee, Ground Water Reduction Plan Fee (GRP), or Garbage Fees, which are not set by the district.

If you have questions about the rate changes, please contact:

Water Well Construction

The Directors of Thunderbird Utility District want to make residents aware that a replacement water well will start construction at 3003 Glenn Lake Blvd the week of July 7, 2025. The new well replaces a fifty (50) year old well which failed at the end of 2023.

The work will require twenty-four (24) hours a day of operation and may be of some inconvenience to the residents in the immediate area. A four hundred (400) foot-length wall twenty-four (24) feet high able to withstand winds of ninety (90) miles per hour will be temporarily constructed along Glenn Lakes Boulevard at the site to help alleviate some of the noise during construction.

The district has enough water to meet our current needs. Thunderbird Utility District currently has another well in service which is also fifty (50) years old and interconnect agreements with neighboring districts are available if needed.

The Thunderbird Utility District is asking residents to be conscious of water usage until the new well is completed, which will take approximately three (3) months.

Should you have any questions concerning construction, contact the district office at: 281-499-5539.

Thank you for your patience during this strenuous time.

Notice of Public Hearing on Tax Rate

The THUNDERBIRD UTILITY DISTRICT will hold a public hearing on a proposed tax rate for the tax year 2023 on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at The Quail Valley District Office, 3134 Cartwright Road, Missouri City, Texas 77459.
